Packing

We pack before the move, with all materials included in the quoted price — and anything we pack is our responsibility.

A packer wrapping glassware in protective paper and placing it into a labelled moving box

Packing is the part of a move that expands to fill whatever time you give it. It is also the part people most often underestimate, because a kitchen looks like an afternoon right up until you start on the third cupboard.

Handing it over is the single biggest stress-reducer we offer. We will pack the whole house the day before moving day, or just the rooms you would rather not face — kitchens and lofts are the usual two. Boxes, tape, paper and protective materials are all included in the quoted price, so there is no separate materials bill at the end.

There is a second, less obvious reason to let us do it. Where you pack a box yourself, we cannot take responsibility for damage to the contents unless our team caused it, simply because we have no way of knowing how well things were wrapped inside. Anything we pack, we are responsible for. If you are moving glassware, ceramics or anything you would be genuinely upset to lose, that difference is worth more than the cost of the service.

Who this is for

  • Anyone short of time in the fortnight before completion
  • Kitchens, lofts and anywhere full of fragile or awkward items
  • Households with breakables they would rather have covered

What's included

All materials in the price
Boxes, tape, paper and protective wrapping are part of the quote for a packing service, not a separate charge added afterwards.
Full or partial packing
The whole house, or just the rooms you would rather not do yourself. Tell us which and we price accordingly.
Responsibility for what we pack
Anything our team packs is our responsibility, which removes the self-packed-box question entirely.
Early materials drop-off
Booked with us and want to start early? We can drop materials off beforehand — just ask.

Worth knowing before you book

The things that most often change a job on the day. We would rather they were on this page than a conversation on your doorstep.

  • Materials are for customers with a booking. We do not sell boxes and tape as a standalone product to people who are not moving with us.
  • Where you pack a box yourself we cannot cover damage to its contents unless our team caused it. That is not a get-out — it is that nobody can assess wrapping they never saw.
  • The prohibited list still applies to a packed house: no fuels, gas cylinders, corrosive chemicals or fireworks, and no perishable or frozen food. Run garden equipment dry before the day.
  • Cash, jewellery, passports, deeds, medication and anything irreplaceable should stay with you in your own car rather than being packed at all.

Packing questions

No. If you have booked our packing service, everything needed is included in the price you were quoted. If you are packing yourself and have a booking with us, we can drop materials off beforehand so you can start early — just ask when you book.

Everything into proper boxes, cases or containers — loose items and open bags may be refused, and where we do carry them it is at your own risk. Wrap fragile things generously and label them clearly. Do not overfill a box past the point where anyone can lift it, and seal everything properly before the day rather than on the morning.

Yes, and it is a common way to book it. Partial packing is priced on what you want us to cover, so tell us which rooms at quoting stage. Kitchens and lofts are the two people most often hand over, because they hold the most fragile and the most awkward things respectively.
